ABOUT THE ARTIST

Brittany Sanders graduated with honors from Brown University in 2000, double majoring in comparative literature and history of art and architecture. At Brown, a class called 'Art of the Book' taught by Walter Feldman changed the direction of her artistic focus, introducing Brittany to the history and tradition of artist books. Upon graduation, Brittany returned home to Los Angeles and promptly began to search for a letterpress. Brittany acquired a 1939 Vandercook Cylinder Press through Regis Graden, a fine printer and wonderful mentor. Brittany's first project upon graduation was I WAS THERE. In addition to commissioned books and custom design work, Brittany is currently working on a series of paintings on the theme of "Last Lands," writing and illustrating a children's book, and collaborating with Amy Borezo on a new artist book on Perspective/Perception.
